Welcome to Sherlock Translation, which since 2007 has been providing professional translation services in Dutch, English, and Japanese. Areas covered include family documents (e.g., family registers, marriage certificates, and birth certificates), documents related to everyday life (e.g., utility bills), licenses, tax documents, and more. If your need falls outside this list, please check with us!

Translations are shipped anywhere in Japan, but international destinations are possible upon consultation.

Satisfaction is guaranteed! Sherlock Translation prices are reasonable, and translated documents are provided in a timely manner. If you need an urgent (even next-day) translation, please see our Express Service.

 The Translation Process

The translation process involves several steps. The first step, of course, begins with an inquiry from a prospective customer, which may be done by email. fax, or phone. We will then prepare an estimate of the cost and time necessary. If the customer is satisfied with the estimate, we will begin the actual translation work, which will be sent to the customer by the date agreed upon. The customer will then remit payments within two weeks of receiving the translation.

Sherlock Translation is committed to providing accurate, timely translations, and we welcome questions and comments at any time.

 Price List

The prices are as follows:

1 page = 4000 yen; 2 pages = 5000 yen

For a document of more than 2 pages, an estimate will be prepared free of charge (in that case a scan is required of the document). However, in all cases an estimate will be provided before commencement of a translation.

 Notarization

The original document will need an apostille-seal, which certifies that the document is an official Japanese document. This can only be requested by the client from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Tokyo.

Except for licences (colour copied, both sides), the translation of other official documents can only be completed with original documents with apostille seals attached to them.

 Delivery and Payment

Documents are shipped through the Japan Postal Service using registered mail (kakitome). Costs will be borne by the customer.

For faster delivery, documents will be sent using express registered mail (sokutatsu kakitome).
